Grant Writing and Grant Administration
Local Government Services staff prepare and administer a broad range of grants for member jurisdictions and various non-profit entities located throughout the CSRA. The RC works with local officials to determine needs, assess viable options, and recommend potential funding sources for projects such as water/sewer expansions or repairs, sidewalk improvements, downtown beautification, solid waste and recycling activities,
Typical grant preparation and administration activities might revolve around projects funded through state and federal grants such as:
- Community Development Block Grant
- Local Development Fund Applications
- Governor's Discretionary Fund
- Land and Water Conservation Fund
- EPD Scrap-Tire Cleanup
- Georgia Recreational Trails Grant
- Immediate Threat and Danger
- Criminal Justice Coordinating Council
- Local Law Enforcement Block Grant
- Recreation Assistance Fund
- Transportation Enhancement Grants
- FEMA Assistance to Firefighters
Additionally, the Local Government Services Department can assist local governments with the following types of activities:
- Identification of potential sources of funding for problems related to:
- Water and sewer activities
- Law Enforcement activities
- ISO ratings studies for fire improvements
- Local and community development activities
- Recreational activities
- Identification of "best practice" solutions to local problems or initiatives
