Volunteers
Senior Week at the Georgia Capital
Advocates have the unique opportunity to travel to the state capital on March 1, 2007 and to share their concerns with their State Representatives and State Senators. AAA staff will provide advocacy training prior to Senior Week. Additionally, the AAA will arrange meetings with elected officials and provide transportation.
Minimum Time Required: 1 day of training in addition to March 2 trip to Atlanta
General Advocacy Volunteers
Advocacy volunteers educate elected officials on the needs and wants of senior adults. Locally, advocates participate in the CSRA Coalition of Advocates for the Aging through quarterly meetings. Additionally, volunteers assist with Annual Legislative Breakfast by helping with legislator invitations, general publicity, and registration.
Minimum Time Required: Variable
Services 2 Seniors Event Volunteers
Services 2 Seniors Event Volunteers will help with Older American’s Month Activities in May, 2006. During this month, the AAA hosts multiple community education events. Volunteers are needed to help with publicity, staff registration tables, host information booths, and escort participants.
Minimum Time Required: 4 hours to assist with an individual event
GeorgiaCares Volunteers and Medicare Hotline Counselor Volunteer
Provide assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and/or their representatives who call. Volunteer Counselors use the Medicare website to assist callers as they select a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.
Minimum Time Required: 4 hours per month
GeorgiaCares Office Administration Volunteer
Provide administrative and clerical support to the GeorgiaCares program.
Minimum Time Required: 4 hours per month
Community Education Volunteer
Give GeorgiaCares presentations to Medicare beneficiaries and their representatives as well as other concerned groups regarding Medicare Part D, public/private health insurance issues, including fraud, error, abuse, supplemental and long term care insurance, etc.
Minimum Time Required: Variable
Publicity and Outreach Volunteer
Publicize the GeorgiaCares program and inform appropriate individuals, groups and communities about services and volunteer opportunities in GeorgiaCares.
Minimum Time Required: Variable
Data Entry Volunteer
Enter required data for the GeorgiaCares program into the computerized Aging Information Management System (AIMS).
Minimum Time Required: 8 hours per month
