Bike and Pedestrian Planning
Bicycling and walking are healthy, inexpensive, environmentally-friendly modes of transportation and, for many, practical and enjoyable ways of getting to work, visiting friends or making other utilitarian trips. Bicycling and walking are also important elements of an integrated, intermodal transportation system. Constructing sidewalks, installing bicycle parking, or teaching children to ride and walk safely all contribute to important national transportation goals such as safety and mobility.
This portion of the website was designed to provide CSRA communities with a comprehensive set of resources to plan for and implement bicycle and pedestrian transportation projects.
Safe Routes to School
Governments at all levels and bicycle/walking organizations have designed and promoted Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs for many years.
While programs vary from community to community, all SRTS programs empower communities to make walking and bicycling to school a safe, enjoyable and routine activity.
SRTS funding is available for a wide variety of programs and projects, from building safer street crossings to establishing programs that encourage children and their parents to walk and bicycle safely to school.
This website was designed by the CSRA Regional Development Center to provide resources to member communities interested in participating in SRTS programs.
Communities interested in Bicylce and Pedestrian tranpsortation, or participating in a SRTS program can contact Costa Pappis.
